Experience
Ms. Saplala's professional experience includes physician billing, coding, auditing, and training in multi-specialty practices such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Radiology, and Physical Therapy. She has provided expert auditing, billing, coding, compliance, and educational support to physicians within a national Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), with an emphasis on Physician Query and Quality Assurance, and has taught E/M documentation classes at an accredited coding school. Her specialty is working closely with healthcare providers to ensure compliant documentation and appropriate reimbursement for their services. Currently, Ms. Saplala serves as an Independent Review Organization auditor for organizations under a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the Office of Inspector General. She also serves as Team Lead for Clinician Documentation Educators of Acute Services for a Top Ten national Hospital/Emergency & Anesthesia Medicine group.
Ms. Saplala obtained her Medical Degree from the Philippines. She is a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) from American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and a Certified Coding Specialist for Physicians (CCSP) from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) for more than 15 years.
