For those Not Eligible for EHR Incentives …

plug into medical computer networkNot all providers are eligible to participate in the EHR incentives laid out in the HITECH Act.  If you’re not sure about your own eligibility, then use our “Interactive Provider Eligibility Flow Chart” to see if you qualify.

If you’ve already determined that you are NOT eligible, that can understandably feel like a letdown.  However, in such cases we’ll tell you the same thing that we tell our clients who are eligible.

“The EHR incentives in the HITECH Act should never be the core reason to adopt an Electronic Health Record system.”

In fact, the reasons to consider such a system are the same whether eligible for incentives or not.  Consider the following …

  • Better documentation, compliance, and “intelligent coding”.  All leading to improved collections and security that things are being done right.
  • Complete medical history is always available, even remotely.  Enabling better decision making.
  • Improved processes and reminder systems that can ultimately speed up patient visits and capture necessary follow-up items and preventive measures.

What’s more, requirements placed on EHR systems that are certified for “meaningful use” are much more stringent, and costly, than “stand alone” systems.  So there are a fair amount of product and price alternatives that may still fit your individual needs as a practitioner.

If you’d like to explore some of these options, please fill out the form below and we’ll be happy to provide you with answers to your questions during a complimentary, and confidential telephone call.
