Even if an Eligible Professional is able to demonstrate “Meaningful Use“, first they must register with the federal government, and they must complete a 90-day reporting period after which they attest meaningful use. There are separate registration procedures depending on whether the Eligible Professional is wishing to pursue EHR incentives related to the Medicare program, or those associated with the Medicaid program. Also, it should be noted that a provider can only participate in one incentive program or the other … not both.
